Polyformaldehyde-POM vacuum casting material (acetal simulation molding/POM molding/silica gel molding PU vacuum casting) is suitable for small batches of functional prototypes, assembly verification and structural review, focusing on low friction, wear resistance, and dimensional stability requirements; it supports chamfering, grinding, bonding, screen printing, and laser engraving, and provides fast quote and delivery.

Acetal (POM)

Acetal (POM) effect resin is mainly used in vacuum casting for functional verification parts with "low friction / high dimensional stability."

Vacuum casting (silicone mold) POM/acetal simulation Low friction and wear resistance Assembly verification Small batch functional prototypes Dimensional stability

Appearance and colorCommon natural colors (white/off-white) are mainly used; if you need to specify a color/matching color, please make a note and provide a reference color
Typical structures suitable forGears, sliders, bushings, positioning parts, mechanism components (emphasis on low friction and wear-resistant feel)
Not recommended scenarioLong-term high temperature, long-term heavy load wear, strong impact/high fatigue (it is recommended to change materials or processes)
Finishing Chamfering, grinding, bonding, screen printing, laser engraving
Typical lead timeRelated to size, quantity, mold opening complexity and finishing; clear delivery and expedited options will be given after uploading the file

Finishing

chamfer

Used to remove sharp edges and improve assembly feel and safety; it is recommended to specify the chamfer size and position for sliding/rotating fittings.

polish

Used to improve parting lines, gate areas and surface details; if the appearance surface is sensitive, it is recommended to define the display surface and appearance standards in the remarks.

bonding

Suitable for assembly and assembly verification of component structures; it is recommended to reserve positioning structures (tongues/positioning posts) to improve assembly consistency.

screen printing

Suitable for logos, scales and other flat graphic information; it is recommended to provide vector files and location and size instructions.

Laser engraving

For permanent identification (serial number/QR code/Logo); please provide engraving content, location and depth requirements.

Finishing items are subject to material data: chamfering, grinding, bonding, screen printing, laser engraving.

Why Choose Polyoxymethylene-POM (Vacuum Casting)

Low friction feel

It is closer to the mechanical experience of engineering plastics and is suitable for feel evaluation and linkage verification of sliding/rotating structures.

Wear-resistant guide

Suitable for short-cycle functional validation of gears, sliders, bushings and other structures (long-term heavy loads require the evaluation of more secure routes).

Small batches are more efficient

Compared with injection molding, it enters the verification stage faster and is suitable for iteration and trial production needs of about 5-200 pieces.

Logo and assembly friendly

Supports screen printing/laser engraving and bonding assembly, which facilitates version differentiation, assembly demonstration and small batch delivery.

Recommended Applications

  • Mechanical component verification:Sliding/rotating structure, low friction feel review
  • Small batch trial production: Frequent iterations and the need to get functional samples faster
  • Assembly verification: Positioning/fit/interference check (2D tolerance is recommended)
  • Identification requirements: Requires screen printing/laser engraving for version and batch management

It is not recommended to use it directly (it is recommended to change materials/processes)

  • long-term high temperature: Continuous thermal environment, close to heat source (it is recommended to evaluate high temperature-resistant materials or injection molding/machining)
  • Long term heavy load wear: High load, high cycle working conditions (engineers are recommended to evaluate more reliable routes)
  • Strong impact/high fatigue: Drop impact, repeated elastic deformation (it is recommended to change to a tougher system)
  • Extremely consistent mass production: Large batch size and extremely high dimensional consistency requirements (injection molding/finishing recommended)

Design and DFM Guidelines

  • Wall thickness and stability: It is recommended that the wall thickness be uniform (≥1.0mm) to avoid sudden changes in thickness; large flat surfaces can be reinforced to reduce the risk of deformation.
  • Fit and hole position: It is recommended to provide 2D tolerance marking for key holes/shafts/locating surfaces; a margin can be reserved for mating holes and secondary reaming/reaming can be arranged.
  • Parting Line and Exterior Surface: There are parting lines and gate areas in vacuum casting. Please define the appearance surface in the remarks. We can give priority to avoiding key display surfaces.
  • Sliding/rotating structure: Please provide target clearance or "tighter/looseer" preference; if necessary, you can do trial fitting iterations to lock in the fit.
  • Assembly and subassembly: If bonding is required, it is recommended to add positioning structures (tongues/positioning posts/stops) to improve assembly consistency and reduce misalignment.
