ABS vacuum casting material is suitable for appearance prototypes, small batch reproductions, review samples and assembly/functional validation. It supports finishing such as polishing, painting, screen printing and laser engraving; upload files for a fast quote and lead-time estimate.

ABS

ABS effect resin is one of the most commonly used "universal structure + appearance" materials for vacuum casting.

Quote checklist: Upload your 3D model and, when available, a 2D drawing. Identify the required process, material, quantity, critical dimensions, finish, appearance standard, and target delivery date.

ABS vacuum-cast parts sample: suitable for appearance prototypes and small batch replicas, can be polished, painted, screen-printed and laser engraved, and supports fast quote and delivery.

Key Material and Manufacturing Parameters

Engineering note: Values below are typical reference ranges. Final manufacturability, tolerances, material condition, surface finish, cost, and lead time depend on the drawing, geometry, quantity, and selected process.

Upload CAD files and mark critical features for an engineering review before production.

ProcessVacuum casting (silicone mold / small batch replica)
MaterialABS
Application positioningAppearance prototype/review sample/small batch reproduction/assembly and functional validation
Accuracy±0.2 mm (common reference; it is recommended to mark tolerances on key dimensions and confirm with DFM)
Minimum wall thickness1.0mm (Thinner structures need to assess the risks of pouring and demoulding, and it is recommended to review them first)
Service temperature300-600℃ (the parameter range is subject to project confirmation and working conditions, it is recommended to indicate the actual operating temperature)
Tensile strength450-1100MPa (subject to material system/pouring system and project requirements)
Density7.7-8.5 g/cm³ (subject to material system/project confirmation value)
ColorCan be customized (commonly available in similar injection molding colors; for high color consistency requirements, painting is recommended)
Surface qualityAchieve better appearance; complex structures/deep cavity areas need to assess the risk of demoulding and surface defects
Typical lead timeRelevant to quantity, number of molds, structural complexity and finishing; clear delivery and expedited options will be given after uploading the file

Finishing

Polishing (appearance and feel optimization)

Used to trim parting lines, gate areas and minor surface imperfections; a finer grinding standard can be selected for display surfaces.

Spray paint (color and texture consistency)

It can produce matte/semi-matte/high-gloss effects, etc., which can significantly improve the finished product feeling "like an injection molded part"; it is recommended to provide reference pictures or texture targets.

Screen printing (Logo/mark/scale)

Suitable for graphic signs on flat or gently curved surfaces; it is recommended to provide vector files and position and size instructions.

Laser engraving (wear-resistant marking)

Suitable for serial numbers, QR codes, positioning marks, etc.; if the color contrast requirement is high, it can be evaluated together with the spray paint/base color scheme.

Why choose engineering plastics-ABS

High efficiency for small batch reproduction

Suitable for small batch trial production and multiple rounds of iterations of 5-50 pieces, reducing the threshold and risk of "making a hard mold".

Appearance closer to injection molded parts

Combined with sanding and painting, a more uniform surface texture can be obtained, which is suitable for review, demonstration and prototype integration.

Suitable for assembly and functional validation

It can be used for interference inspection, assembly trial assembly and structural first version verification; it is recommended to provide 2D annotations for key hole positions to improve consistency.

Logo and appearance craft friendly

Supports screen printing and laser engraving; when a "branded appearance" or stable color difference control is required, priority is given to painting solutions.

Recommended Applications

  • Small batch samples: Trial production, trial assembly, review, exhibition/demonstration samples
  • Appearance close to finished product: Hoping for a more injection molded look than 3D printing
  • Need identification: Screen printing/laser engraving for logo, scale, number
  • Iterate quickly: Multiple rounds of revisions, rapid verification and reproduction

It is not recommended to use it directly (it is recommended to change materials/processes)

  • Long-term mass production: It is recommended to evaluate the cost advantages of injection molding
  • Ultra-tight tolerances and consistency: It is recommended to evaluate CNC or injection molding and cooperate with the mass inspection plan
  • Long-term high temperature/strong load: It is recommended to choose a more matching material system or process route
  • Complex deep cavity/extremely thin structures: DFM needs to be done first to evaluate the feasibility of pouring and demoulding

Design and DFM Guidelines

  • Parting Line and Display Surface: Please define the display surface/key appearance surface to facilitate control of parting line position and finishing standards.
  • Thin walls and deep cavities: Thin-walled/deep cavities will increase the risks of pouring, venting and demoulding; it is recommended to reserve a process margin and conduct a DFM review first.
  • Hole location and fit: It is recommended to mark the assembly holes/positioning holes with tolerances or note "accuracy first"; if necessary, a secondary trimming plan can be considered.
  • Textures and text: Screen printing printing/painting will affect the detail boundaries, it is recommended to increase the text height/depth and clarify the final appearance process.
  • Quantity and mold life: Please write down the target quantity and whether to repurchase in the remarks, so as to facilitate the selection of a more appropriate molding and pouring strategy and stable consistency.
